As an artist…

As a teacher, I follow in the footsteps of my mentors by prioritizing my students’ discovery of good technique over conceptual lectures. I want to help each person quickly learn for themselves exactly how their voice is set up for success! To develop voices, I draw upon the Bel Canto tradition - especially the work of Manuel Garcia Jr. and Mathilde Marchesi.

I began studying music when I was four and won the North Carolina Music Teacher Classical Piano Competition three times as a teenager. I went on to earn my Bachelor’s of Music in Vocal Performance from Wheaton College and graduated summa cum laude with my Master’s of Music in Opera from the New England Conservatory in 2023. I’m always looking for ways to use my deep knowledge of music in lessons, no matter the style!

In order to be more accessible to my students while performing across the country, I adopted virtual teaching seven years ago, and it’s now an integral part of my teaching base.

Teaching voice has been integral to my growth and joy as an artist, and I wouldn’t trade my students for the world!

I am a theater person - always have been, always will be! I’m drawn to any artistic work driven by authenticity, presence, and full-bodied commitment. It’s no wonder then that when I discovered opera at 14 I knew immediately it was the right home for me. I’m a lyric coloratura soprano and am grateful to be able to perform all over the country while maintaining my voice studio.

Having grown up in the theater, I also have a deep love for Shakespeare and other classical theater, and I work on shows in New York whenever I can! With my deep experience in both music and theater, I’m frequently invited to serve as a director for interdisciplinary projects in Chicago, Boston, and New York.

Finally, the hilarious Autumn Schacherl and I run Wunderkind Cabaret on the Upper West Side to platform incredibly talented artists and explore the ideas that don’t fit anywhere else!
